A trip to Hamilton Island was always in the plan as the reward for the camping/kayaking days on Whitsunday Island. As it turned out though we got in an extra day and a half and made great use of it.
If you have been, you will understand how easy it is to holiday on Hamilton Island. The range of food options runs from grocery store and milk bar through to 5 star dining at the spectacular yacht club on the marina. If Hamilton is on your holiday to-do-list we can’t recommend it highly enough – you can make this place as cheap or expensive as you like.

There is golf, watersports, hiking, tours, day spa and breakfast with koalas. And then there is laying by the pool with a book and swimming up to the island bar when you are thirsty. Every desire is catered for here.
For almost 4 days we blissed out on the island – eating like kings and being massaged like queens. After the adventures of kayaking last week we kept our activities pretty low key although did manage a trek up to Passage Peak, the highest point on the island, to work off all the good eating and drinking.

The highlight for the few days for the boys was without doubt the golf on Dent Island, a 10 minute ferry trip from the marina and an idyllic location for a world class golf course. 18 holes was followed by a decadent 3 course lunch in the Club House – a treat for all of us before we boarded the ferry back to Airlie Beach and sailed into the sunset, literally!
