Saturday 30 April 2016. Car is packed, and Mum’s trailer is hitching a ride to her new home in Agnes Waters QLD. The lure of a baked dinner was the motivation to do the first leg in one day, and we arrived in the Byron hinterland village of Fernleigh just in time for dinner with our friends Rhea, Reg, Ava and Edith.
As usual, Byron delivered the perfect holiday feel to help shake off the last stresses of work, and settle into the routine of doing not much at all. We hit up the current Byron eating hotspots at The Farm and Harvest Cafe at Newrybar – both insanely popular on weekends so be prepared to wait.

To mitigate the effects of the first few days of holiday eating (which may have included roadside pies on the trip north!) we navigated the rocky path to the base of Minyon Falls which is worth a trip away from the coast for hinterland views and swimming at the base of a waterfall if you dare.
Certainly one of the highlights though was contributing to the local economy by way of shopping – specifically at the beautifully curated homewares store Tobes & Crete on the main street of Bangalow. This little gem is owned by Rhea and it was pretty cool to see her living out one of her dreams. A nice theme to adopt as we set out to achieve some of ours.
Thanks for looking after us Team Barber!
